Interacting with people online can be exciting and fun. However, it can become a disaster if we are not cautious.
Please note, that Qtalk is not a dating platform neither a hook-up platform and we STRONGLY discourage people from using it for those purposes.
For your own safety, there are a few things you should take note of while interacting on the app, see below.
Never Send Money or Share Financial Information
Never send money using any means to anyone you meet on the platform. Counselors will not under any circumstances ask you for money.
Protect Your Personal Information
When chatting on the app, ensure that you do not share personal or sensitive information about yourself, such as your real name, phone number or email. However, when in session with a counselor, to help provide you with the help you need, the counselor might ask some personal questions which will require you to share some personal information.
Even so, note that you can only share this information when you are comfortable to do so.
Stay on the Platform
Keep conversations on the app while you’re getting to know someone. Users with bad intentions often try to move the conversation to text, messaging apps, email, or phone right away.
Report All Suspicious and Offensive Behavior
You know when someone’s crossed the line and when they do, we want to know about it. Block and report anyone that violates our terms. Here are some examples of violations:
- Requests for money or donations
- Harassment, threats, and offensive messages
- Inappropriate behaviours
- Fraudulent profiles
- Spam or solicitation including links to commercial websites or attempts to sell products or services
You can report any concerns about suspicious behavior directly from the chat session with the user.
For more information, check out our Community Guidelines.
Protect Your Account
Be sure to pick a strong password, and always be careful when logging into your account from other people’s phones. Qtalk will never send you an email or any message asking for your username and password information — if you receive an email asking for account information, report it immediately.
