Qtalk [Queer talk] is Nigeria’s first social and counseling mobile app for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer [LGBTIQ+] community.

The platform was developed by NoStrings Development Initiatives; a Nigeria-based LGBTIQ+ led human rights organization.

Through the app, LGBTIQ+ persons in Nigeria can have unlimited and FREE access to psychosocial and legal support provided by friendly LGBTIQ+ experts at any time of the day.

The platform also provides a safe space for LGBTIQ+ persons to interact and share their opinions on diverse issues as well as make meaningful friendships.

In addition to this, the platform provides relevant and LGBTIQ+-focused news contents and articles from across Africa through its partner platform RightsAfrica.com; a news platform which provides accurate LGBTIQ+ contents.

On the platform, you will be able to send a help request. This request will get to the counselors registered on the app. Any one of them available will be able to accept this request and you will be able to start a chat session with them.

You will have the option of chatting conveniently with your counselor or by exchanging voice-notes, depending on what you are comfortable with.

Please note: If at any point you feel that you are unable to continue with a counselor, you can always send a request again and someone else will accept to start a new session with you.

The counselors are qualified experts on diverse issues. They have been vetted by the admin to ensure that they are qualified and have the required training to provide counseling to LGBTIQ+ persons.

Also, confidentiality is guaranteed, which means that whatever you share with a counselor on the platform will not be shared with any third-party.

In addition to this, be informed that you can only share sensitive and personal information about yourself only when you are comfortable to do so.

However, also note that you can at any time report a counselor who behaves inappropriately.  An admin will look into your report and act accordingly.

Absolutely No! Access to counselors on the platform is completely FREE. The counselors, who provide their services on the platform, are qualified persons who have decided to assist members of the community on a volunteer basis.

When you are signing up, we encourage that you use a ‘nick name’. However, we collect your personal information such as your phone number and email address.
